Pinheiro Guimarães will participate in a webinar dedicated to analyzing the potential implications of the designation of Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) as Foreign Terrorist Organizations by the United States, featuring presentations by Nicholas J. Lewin and Rebecca Tinio, partners at KKL.

Nicholas J. Lewin previously served as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, including as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, and advised FBI leadership on national security matters. Rebecca Tinio served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, including as Deputy Chief of the Civil Division in the Southern District of New York.

The webinar will address key aspects of U.S. counterterrorism laws, risks arising from economic sanctions, potential criminal and civil liability for companies and financial institutions, and compliance measures recommended to mitigate these risks.

The discussion will also cover practical enforcement examples, the potential effects of the extraterritorial application of U.S. laws, and the challenges faced by companies operating in sectors exposed to risks associated with designated organizations.
